ordinary life - extraordinary faith

Wait for it…

Wait for it…

Waiting is the hardest and sweetest call of God on our lives.

Life really is a long slow process of waiting…  waiting to grow up, waiting for a spouse, a career, a baby, then waiting nine. long. slow. nauseous. miraculous months (and all the mamas out there said amen).

They have whole rooms created for it.  Songs written about it.  Highway lanes designated for it.

Waiting.

waiting to jump - CopyWaiting for a diagnosis, a prognosis, a cure.  Waiting to see if treatment worked.  Waiting to see if it comes back – if it was worth all the hours/days/years, all the tears, all the dollars, all the side effects.  Worth all the waiting.  Ask me how I know.

We’re all waiting on something.

Nothing worthwhile ever came without waiting.  Sometimes we wait and nothing happens.  And we keep waiting.  Sometimes the waiting process flies by, sometimes it drags.

Sometimes it nearly kills us.

“Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.  They shall mount up with wings like eagles.”  Isaiah 40:31

The thing about the eagle is that when the storms come the eagle doesn’t just hunker down and brace himself and hope for the best.  No, when the storm comes, the eagle catches a drift and soars high above the clouds.Waiting Hike

The storm is still raging.  The winds are still devastating.  The rains are still torrential.  The effects still sometimes catastrophic.

But above it, the sun is shining.  You see, it’s all about vantage point.  When the storms of life come…and make no mistake, they will come… we can cower and wait for it to pass, OR we can wait (hope, trust) on the Lord – and soar high above.

What are you waiting on?

If your season seems dark, and your situation seems hopeless, Wait.  If your days seem daunting and your tasks seem meaningless, Wait.  If your parenting seems impossible and your marriage is a wreck, Wait on the Lord.  If you aren’t sure what to do or what comes next, Wait.  If this day, this job, this treatment, this season, this…whatever…feels like it will never end or get better or work out…

Wait.

‘Those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength.  They shall mount up with wings like eagles.”  Isaiah 40:31

Lord teach me.
